I lost a bet on this one. I was so sure that it was no coincidence of Starlight and CMC getting their cutie marks being in the same season. And then I was fricken disappointed, boo Hasbro.

Only difference is their cutie marks are not the same. Apple Bloom’s has a heart with an apple, Sweetie Belle has a star with a music note, and Scootaloo’s has a wing with a lightning bolt.
Actually, wouldn’t the cutie mark crusaders be a PERFECT example of Starlight’s philosophy? Three ponies of different races living in harmony and bearing the same cutie mark, which their sharing of the marks strengthen their bond even more.
I think I found the summaries for the last episodes, and I don’t think its really as much as Starlight changing the past as it is her time traveling to try and change the past and and the Mane 6 having to go after her and stop her.
Hands up - how many people think that they’re gonna get their cutie marks taken away in the season finale by Starlight?

I do not, repeat do not want them to ‘clean-slate-ify’ all the progress built up since the beginning, as that would not only be a slap in the face to all the fans invested in the story since the beginning, but would signal the actual jump-the-shark moment for MLP proper.

Based on what’s been revealed at the end of Friendship Games I’m betting it’s going to be the latter.
