@The Floor Kippers
The comic’s trying to make a point by saying that by responding to how someone in your group is being bad with deflecting and defending yoursely is wrong. However, it misses the point, since the rat is blaming the seagull for behavior of
other seagulls and is eventually proven correct. The fact of the matter is that blaming someone for something they haven’t done is stupid, and it’s even stupider to then say you shouldn’t defend yourself from blame for things that aren’t your fault.
The seagull certainly should be acknowledging that other seagulls are causing problems, too; there is merit to the overall point.
I think it’s anti-GG overall since AFAIK the anti-GG side isn’t saying “but this is about __!” and the author pretty clearly
intended the rat to be the one to sympathize with and is, in the end, correct.
Regarding Sweden:
It was clear things were very wrong when the Assange rape case came up.
Old article with a timeline
Some key highlights from near the end:
‘Assange’s solicitor, Mark Stephens, said: “The allegations of the complainants are not credible and were dismissed by the senior Stockholm prosecutor as not worthy of further investigation.” He said Miss A had sent two Twitter messages that appeared to undermine her in the police statement.’
‘“Both complainants say they did not report him to the police for prosecution but only to require him to have an STD test. However, his Swedish lawyer has been shown evidence of their text messages which indicate that they were concerned to obtain money by going to a tabloid newspaper and were motivated by other matters including a desire for revenge.”’
To be clear, he is charged with
rape because he allegedly poked holes in a condom and neither woman said anything until they talked to each other. It’s pretty clear they thought they could make money off a big headline out of saying that he was going around spreading HIV, and ended up making a somewhat different headline than expected.
