The discussion was more along the lines of “which characters would they pick, and how would they be used?” I think it’s pretty obvious that Optimus Prime and Megatron would be shoo-ins, but how about, say, the Dinobots? The way SRW V does it is the leader is the actual unit, but the teammates show up in some of the attacks. An example is the Tri-Stars from Gundam Unicorn. Only their team leader is an actual unit, but he calls in his wingmen during his final attack. So would Grimlock be the unit, and he calls in the others during certain attacks? Or would each individual Dinobot be their own solo unit?
 
And combiners too. In V, the Divers and Bombers appear during intermissions, but are only playable as their combined modes. This’d be like having Onslaught take part in a mission briefing, but only Bruticus is a playable unit.
 
If they made use of the Beast Wars characters, I can’t imagine someone like Cheetor or Rattrap being used as an independent unit. They just don’t have the firepower. But as a team…
 
Except Dinobot. No one’s going to say he doesn’t have the firepower to operate solo.

that’s pretty much one of the biggest drawbacks of transformers being in SRW (better available units). though you can always play it the way you want (use the units you only like, no matter the availability of better/more versatile units).
 
oh and scarlett is now optimus’ WHAT?

I think maybe some of the more iconic our unique characters would be playable
 
Also I imagine Star Saber and Ginrai unlock their power ups as they get more will
 
Also I think vehicle modes would generally have a huge movement advantage (I imagine some would be able to gain transforming after moving as an ace skill)

I think most mention was around which characters would be playable and how, but I think on average they’d have the same firepower as a Gundam, at least. But how strong or weak the attacks would be was part of the reason the suggestion of having teams rather than solo Transformers came up.
 
Naturally the boss types like Optimus Prime, Star Saber, Megatron or Deszaras would be solo, and maybe other big names like Grimlock (with the other Dinobots as an assist), Soundwave (naturally) or Sixshot. But there’s no way you could convince me that, say, Rattrap could stand up to a Gundam in a firefight. The size difference, you know? So in such a case, maybe have groups instead of solo characters. Like Starscream, Thundercracker and Skywarp collectively as a unit, Sunstreaker and Sideswipe (and maybe Red Alert) as another and so on.

If they go by the Victory manga where Victory Leo was his own guy, sure, no problems.

Also if Masterforce is happening at the same time, Ginrai would still be a human and transtector combo at the time

the franchise is really weird in their handling of power.  
 
hits as hard as any full size mech which is impressive since it’s just a mascot mini-mecha (basically a mascot costume with mechanical parts inside). power armor (tekkaman blade0 and ridiculously human androids like iczer-1 hit hard and evade like heck.
 
in theory they can have beast wars units but the trick would be how they will be managed stats-wise that non-tf fans would be bothered to use them.

Beast Wars would be pretty hard to integrate anyway

At least Chromedome and Fortress Maximus (Probably as a ship class unit)
 
The Godmasters and at least Metalhawk of the pretenders (Maybe a few heaster jrs)
 
And the Brainmasters and Victory Leo

what about cross series compatibility (why are they there in the story)?
 
like in SRW K they had to do some script doctoring so shows like zoids genesis and gun x sword which are set on different planets from earth are now on earth (their stories are just set in remote parts of the world).

My headcanon here is that the Transformers went as in the show, but were reactivated a bit later (UC 0079)

it’s not stated as such but both the core fighter (and it’s descendants) and the saberfish were made by the same company so it’s plausible that it was the basis for the core fighter.

depends. they can mess around with canon and stuff. either that or somehow explain the 80s vehicles or just speed force it

They could’ve scanned a museum or something. I mean, it’s not like there are absolutely no cars in the UC timeline. But the Speed Force explanation works fine. “Why worry about it? Optimus Prime transforms into an 80s semi truck. That’s just how it is.” That could work with the ones who explicitly become military hardware, though. Imagine how horrified, say, the Titans or the Zeons would be when they see what they think are incredibly obsolete F-15 fighter jets, and their forces get absolutely demolished.
 
Alternatively, they could base them on the WFC designs, though ittedly that wouldn’t be as popular as the more familiar G1 cartoon forms.

I think one way they could make use of the Beast Wars cast is to group them. For example, Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Rhinox and Rattrap as “Axalon Crew”, Megatron, Scorponok, Tarantulas and Terrorsaur as “Darksyde Crew” with Inferno, Black Arachnia, Silverbolt and Quickstrike ing later.
 
That way you’d have a comparatively weak unit, sure, but the Spirit Commands would make up for it. Like Flash (evade a single-attack) and Confuse (reduce all enemy aim by 50%) for Rattrap, Accel (increase movement by 3) with Cheetor, healing commands with Rhinox and so on.
 
Dinobot, Depth Charge and Rampage would be solo units, though. Plus BW Megs has the Dinobot clones for grunt units.
 
I think that if they did the same thing as they’ve done in V, there’d be a lot more summoning. For example, I don’t think Banpresto’d be willing to shell out the budget for, say, a fully playable Pheonix, Lander or Diver, but they’d be willing to have them pop out during Metalhawk’s moves. The Brainmasters on their own aren’t that powerful, so while they appear in intermission scenes they’d probably only be playable as Road Caesar, with maybe a “separate, attack and recombine”-style move.

I meant more in a story sense than in a gameplay sense. (At least Tekkaman took place in a setting that was easy to integrate

The Unicron trilogy would also be pretty likely if they decided to consider Transformers

most likely the bayverse tfs would get the call to SRW if they have to use a tf series.  
with the current SRW games having dynamic kill animations, we’ll get “give me your face” dynamic kills.

I’d argue that G1 would be the most likely to get in over the Bay movies or the Unicron Trilogy simply because of sheer star power. Maybe a mish-mash thing could work, where you have G1 Star Saber and Movie Optimus, where Saber notes that Optimus is very different from Convoy.

small group (so they can do more with the animation budget)  
arc villain has much potential ties with other villains (that whole anti-tf barrier would be enticing for a lot of racist villains) and even conflict for other shows as well (since her goal to find a suitable host body to house her daughter’s soul in, the big bad could extend her range to newtypes, x-rounders, whispereds and other types of humans with mind powers).
 
if they can tweak seed DESTINY into something haters of the show can actually like, they can tweak kissplayers the same way.
 
though the beast can be a one mission boss battle like the gilgilgan/mechagilgilgan showing up once in a while.
