if TR windblade had 5mm mounting ports then i could’ve slapped something to make this more coherent looking (the gap between the wings are unsightly)
You know, after all the shit that’s hit characters I’ve grown fond of (poor Nautica’s never going to be the same), seeing those two so happy together warms my heart.
Part of the reason I stopped buying the IDW Transformers comics is because I’m scared at some point one or both of them will be killed off for cheap drama and tragedy. Coz they’re so disgustingly cute together you know they won’t be allowed to stay happy.

Not those two but boy are you going hate how the first issue of the Visionaries crossover ended.
@Darth Prime
Isn’t new Starscream a bigger dick than original starscream? like his whole deal is being the character everyone can hate, other than that one dick onboard that ship whose like Prowl if he was completely dependent on dumb luck?
@Thanotos Omega
Not with Unicron no but Rattrap had all the dirt on all the shady shit he’s done gave it all to Windblade to with as she saw best which led to her confronting him and all the yelling Vortex mentioned but she never revealed it to the public.

I was actually more annoyed by Ironhide’s entire attitude in that issue than I was with what happened to Kup (though make no mistake I wasn’t too happy). But I think I’ve reached my, “I stopped getting attached or caring about anyone other than the ones who are almost 100% not to get killed off” limit.

Razorclaw being casually bumped off, for example. So they introduce Predaking… and he’s disposed off so easily. I didn’t feel, “Wow! That was awesome!” because I have no idea how powerful IDW Predaking was supposed to be. It’s like the writers were relying on us knowing how powerful Predaking generally is in other media. Like in the Botcon stuff when they introduced Bruticus. They really showed how powerful he was by how easily he smashed through the Elite Guard. When the survivors managed to force him into retreat, that was an actual hard-fought victory against a mighty enemy.

That said, that entire confession sequence was awesome. One thing I really like about IDW Starscream is that he’s a bad person, he knows he’s a bad person and that he is responsible for the (many, many) bad things he’s done… and yet he wants to be better, or be respected or ired, maybe even loved.
@WM-R
Like one of the problems I do have with IDW has been how human/bot relationships have been or lack-there-of always with the distrust and animosity and when every there’s something forming something happens that fucks it up like all that shit with Stevie and how the first on-going ended.

Kup’s friendship with Action Man has been one of the highlights in recent years ya get Ian who’s like “yeah big robot mate to go on adventures with” and Kup likewise happy to take a new “kid” under his wing.
But that’s all gone now ain’t it!

All to show how serious is which they out right it to “Things never seem more dire than when you lose that bright, shining light.”
And then the in memoriam feels reminiscent of One More Day when the did away with the marriage then in that issue they “pay tribute” to it by showing a bunch of clips of Pete and MJ’s marriage like they’re trying to say to the readers “look how important this thing we got rid of was.”

Also you always have a special place for guys you owned as a kid.

And yeah I had similar thoughts on Ironhide because “hey we need a guy on the bots side that’s confrontational” but the Kup thing the bigger thing for me.

As for Starscream and all that the writer talks about it in her good bye letter.

Y’know Scott left of her own free will I’m wondering now if that was because she didn’t like the direction it was going in what with the way those letters seem to clash.
@WM-R
i’m more concerned about people not even trying in choosing who to kill.

need to kill one of the protectobots? kill off the new guy who hasn’t had the chance to shine.

Yeah, all the distrust and backstabbing that’s going on just caused me to tune out, you know? Like Pyra Magna being a total bitch and constantly undermining Optimus because she thinks she knows better. She isn’t going, “Look, Optimus, I think you might be going about this wrong. This is what I saw…”, instead she’s sneaking around going, “Hey, you know, maybe Optimus doesn’t have your best interests in mind. Maybe we need someone else in charge.”

What you said about “showing how serious things are by extinguishing the bright shining light of hope” is exactly why I stopped reading comics in general until I got back into IDW. When anything nice or good or hopeful gets killed off or ruined for cheap drama, why the hell should I care? I want to feel good after reading a comic, not angry or disappointed. When Marvel introduced that symbiote hero Hybrid, I thought, “Oh, a symbiote who’s bonded to a cop and an actual nice guy to boot? Cool!”

Then they have him killed off to build Eddie Brock up as a threat again. “Oooh! this new guy who’s supposed to be powerful? He’s no match for our returning badass!”

I also hate, hate most of the G.I.Joe characters. It feels like they’re all Stevies. Something bad happens? Let’s talk about how badass we are instead of trying to deescalating the situation! It’d be like a cop showing up at a domestic disturbance where a couple are fighting, and instead of going, “Sir, ma’am, why don’t we just calm down and talk about it?” the cop goes, “You know I can kill you all, right?”

@OptimusPrimevil

Agh. Don’t even get me started on what happened to the Protectobots.

@Thanotos Omega
@Darth Prime
I like to think the scene went something like this
Starscream after his one hour of confessing:“And then yesterday”
Everyone:“We get the idea,”

Followed by

Starscream: “No, no, hear me out…” (explains)

Everyone: “Crap, that was actually worse than we expected.”

Maybe have someone faint for good measure.

Also, haven’t people been saying the PoTP Leaders are cheaper alternatives to the Masterpieces for awhile now?
@WM-R
Specifically human/bot trust rather than the problems bots have with each other.

Like Mainframe started out like this.

With a hate on for Soundwave specifically.
Then Revolution ends with this.

And that’s fine they start being friends.

You do have to give some credit to Revolution first issue the Joes actually had no chance like Beachhead’s all macho when he shoots a rocket in Prime’s face and when he sees it has no effect he’s just all “heh heh just kiddin’ around big guy” and then Soundwave just hecks and shuts ‘em all down it almost feels like they were kind of apologizing for that infamous issue with Scrapper.

But the point I’m trying to get at is I like seeing the human/bot buddy-buddy relationship.
Like the aforementioned issue with Stevie killing Scrapper with “stuff under the sink” (even though the killing stroke came from Scrapper’s own gun completely undercuts he’s point and granted later the book its he’s suppose be an asshole who gets called out for his action movie star behavior but it doesn’t fix the problems I have) and that’s not what Transformers fans want to see because y’know we kinda like those guys.
Humans do have their place in Transformers despite what some might think and it’s not “how awesome we are to take down these alien death machines” because that’s not how we the fans think cause we like those “alien death machines” a human in Transformers should thinking

And that’s why I really like what was going on with Ation Man and Kup cause Ian was super into have a giant alien robot best friend he literally says “I’ve been waiting for this since Iron Giant” I was like “finally” but now that’s just gone.

And it’s so transparent in how they’re trying to “rise the stakes” with Kup’s death and they seem to know that with how the issue ends trying to validate it to the fans as the wiki says.

This issue’s story is followed by a letter from assistant editor David Mariotte telling the readers that, yes, Kup is definitely dead and that it was a great idea to kill him, and a two-page “In memoriam” segment for the old Autobot to try validating it even more. Good luck workin’ that angle, guys!
@Darth Prime

Didn’t the TF Wiki sum up that stupid ‘Stevie kills Scrapper’ issue with “Spike takes the fun out of everything” or something like that? Coz that’s what it felt like.

It’s the same reason I hate the Michael Bay movies (well, one of the reasons). We’re supposed to be rooting for the humans, as in, “Whooo! Humans rock!”, but they kill off Decepticons (and Autobots) so easily there’s nothing awesome about it.

Sam and Bumblebee’s friendship in the first three movies also felt pretty hollow. I want to say that Aligned did it better, but we went through all of RiD without Bumblebee only mentioning Raf, what, once? The friendship between Bumblebee and Spike in the G1 cartoon seemed a lot better, as in they hang out and genuinely seem to enjoy spending time together. Even in Season 3 when they tried to defend Metroplex against Starscream’s Ghost, they were all, “Just like old times!”

Action Man and Kup reminded me of that. For all the ribbing, they actually liked each other.

I’m waiting to see what happens with Unicron, but I’m sure we’re just going to wind up with plenty of pointless deaths to ramp up the drama. The Marvel comics version felt like a genuine big deal because a lot of the casualties actually were main characters or ing characters previously. I didn’t expect Brainstorm to be the first fatality, and I couldn’t believe someone as tough as Hardhead got so pathetic a death. If IDW just shows after of Circuit, Longtooth, Lightbright, Sparkstalker, Swift and so on biting it, I’d probably just throw my hands up in disgust and walk away.
