@Starless
My idea for a better redemption arc for her would be that pretty much everypony with the exception of Twilight and her friends are still mad with Starlight. They would either glare at her in resentment, or say that she will never be more than what she always used to be, a villain. And more than a few times, she almost gives up trying to redeem herself, but Twilight and her friends always help motivate her to keep trying. When Chrysalis launches her plan of revenge Starlight has a new motivation to keep going. In the end saving all of Equestria is what ultimately helps Starlight redeem herself, and gain everypony’s trust.
@KingIrick
Yeah if Starlight had been sentenced to one season in Tartarus then was released and became Twilight’s student in season 7, it wouldn’t have been so bad, and I’m sure the writers would have found another way for Chrysalis to be stopped in season 6.
@Starless
I agree I especially feel the same way about Starlight. Her redemption arc was not good. She was just let off the hook and forgiven without facing any consequences. I’m not saying she’s a bad character I just believe her redemption arc could’ve been better.
@Swiftgaiathebrony
It doesn’t matter if Babs changed or not. What she did was still wrong and she deserved a punishment (not just her, but Starlight and Discord too), even if she was reformed and the CMCs forgave her. If her punishment would have involved not being allowed to see the CMCs for a long time, she would have deserved it. In MLP, ponies are very forgiving, but in real life, there’s no such thing as true forgiveness. Even if this didn’t make Babs a better pony, she still got what she deserved.
@Starless
Though what difference would it have made? Babs realized that what she did was wrong and regretted it, and in the end she’d become close friends with the CMC and even started her own CMC group in Manehatten to help other blank flanks in need, she also was shown in the comics to have befriend Trixie (As she was able to relate to her) and helped prove her innocence when she was accused of stealing a diamond. As much as I would loved to have seen her get punished for what she did, tell me, in what way would punishing her have improved on that outcome? How exactly would it have made Babs a better pony compared to the results we actually got?
@Swiftgaiathebrony
She would have at least told Babs’ parents and they would have punished her, and I think any sympathy she had towards Babs would have been lost when she found out. Applejack would have believed the CMCs if they told her that Babs was bullying them. She’d have to believe them since there were multiple witnesses.
@Starless
Though, even if the CMC did tell on Babs, do you really think Applejack would have punished her? She was shown to already be aware of Babs’s being bullied in Manehatten and to feel sympathetic towards her.
Perhaps if Babs didnt repent in the end of her wrongdoings genuinely
You’re right on that one. She should have gotten a punishment from Applejack.
Late, but you should read this if you haven’t already.
You’re welcome
Thanks 😊
Good idea!

That would have been better. Just like Sunset Shimmer had to earn everyone’s trust, Starlight should’ve had to as well.

Just because you dislike these characters doesn’t mean everybody does.

I completely agree with you. I feel the exact same way with Starlight.
