I don’t buy that no girls in that world would ever wear shoes or pants, unless they are some kind of strict religious community that do not believe in girls wearing pants and think that exposed shins are shameful (which would raise some alarming questions as to why Hasbro insisted they be designed that way).

No more strange than how in Equestria, most Canterlot ponies wear clothes all the time, whereas in Ponyville, most ponies never wear any clothes at all. It’s just their thing, doesn’t strike me odd at all. Even in our own world, people wear what is considered normal for their group.
Don’t you think it’s a bit strange that in the world of EQG, girls only wear skirts and knee-high boots, and never pants or shoes (the sole exceptions being Celestia and Luna)?
