To be honest, considering how much life in general seems to shit on Trixie (house destroyed, vilified throughout equestria, mind rape, rock farm) this just seems like another ‘one of those days for her’.
 
Maybe she can’t do real magic because she isn’t rich enough to have sat on her ass and read books for her entire friendless childhood (cough Twilight. Cough presumably Starlight). That’d fit her MO.

Trixie, the pony who likes magic, confesses to wanting to be the best at magic and has a magic cutie mark can’t do ‘real magic’ despite wanting to? How does that make any damn sense?
 
Trixie, Sunset and Starlight should have all been one magical pony rival to Twilight. Instead No Second Prances has turned Trixie into nonsensical unicorn rainbow dash.

Humans have a terminal velocity - a maximum speed achieved while falling - like all other things. IIRC it takes something like 450m of freefall to reach that terminal velocity. Once you’ve got that it doesn’t really matter whether you’ve fallen 450m or 4500m, you hit the ground with the same force at the same speed.
 
Tl;DR = Falling from a plane is no different to falling off a skyscraper in of what your body does.
