Transformers Thread

@Darth Prime

Ah. I have Godbomber, and based on how large the boots are I can see how God Ginrai’d be taller. How about in of thickness? As in even if Overlord is the same height, does he look buff enough to be trading blows with Powermaster Optimus?
@OptimusPrimevil

You bastard, now I can’t unsee it either!

@trashboat

I dunno, it might be easier to include compared to the original Beast Wars. I mean, at least the BWII cast is hinted at being the size of regular Transformers as opposed to roughly human-sized like the Beast Wars cast were.

@WM-R
I never really saw anything to indicate that

I’d saw bw is harder to include cause of its western cgi nature than their side

SRW has had Tekkamen and the Garland before
there is no way this opinion is accurate right (in response to a question why galaxy force is connected to superlink and micron legends in america)?

Because American writers are obsessed with creating a “rich, deep omni-continuity”, while Japanese literally does not have a word for canon. At least in the sense of “stuff that really happened”, because it’s a concept derived from Bible studies and most Japanese religions don’t have that kind of formal dogma. They still use the English word canon in the sense of “literary corpus”, and this leads to a ton of misunderstandings and mistranslations.

feels too much japan-praising.

Oh that reminds me since I forgot to ask.

How was Transformers Prime received ? I stopped caring when Energon was around and occasionally tuned in to Prime in the past. Really loved the intro :o
@OptimusPrimevil

The hell? No concept of canon? When there’s a very comprehensive Japanese G1 timeline? The correct answer is “the US side always planned for Galaxy Force to follow Superlink and Micron Legend as the Unicron Trilogy, but the Japan side thought Micron Legend and Superlink ended on a reasonable note and thought Galaxy Force ought to be a stand-alone (though they changed their mind well after the show was over)”.

And that doesn’t look like Japan-praising to me.

@Marx

This is Transformers. A bunch of people loved it and others hated it. I’m part of the first faction. Other than some missteps like the ‘find the relics’ arc that felt like it went on for too long and a lack of interest in the writers to actually follow the Binder of Revelation (because I really feel they could’ve drawn a lot from there), I couldn’t wait for the next episodes.
@WM-R
it’s the “american writers are obsessed” line. makes it sound like american writers HAS to make the shows connected while Japan by comparison is more free to do what they want (the whole “no word for ‘canon’”)

@OptimusPrimevil

Ah, I see now. Though you can counter that with the clumsy attempt to connect Transformers Animated with the Michael Bay movies in Japan. As in stupidly clumsy.

@Darth Prime

The movies done right is pretty accurate, I think. Jack is a lot more likeable than that stuttering moron Sam. Miko may have been an idiot throughout most of the run but she had way more personality than Mikaela (and had some character growth to boot). Agent Fowler was more uptight than Agent Simmons, sure, but he was also a lot more professional.

Unfortunately, like the movies as time went on it got pretty boring seeing the Autobots easily thrash the Vehicons, the same way every Bay climax involves the Autobots easily massacring masses of generic Decepticons. But even so, the key Decepticons had far more personality than anything in the Bay movies.
